Established in 1964, the Fergus & Fergus, LLP, law firm has a proud history of serving Abilene and West Texas.

The firm was established and led by Dan M. Fergus Sr. until his death in 2004. Dan Sr. was well known for his expertise as an oil and gas lawyer and for his work within the community. He served as President of the Abilene Bar Association, President of the Petroleum Club of Abilene, and President of the West Central Texas Oil & Gas Association. Dan Sr. was a Boy Scout leader, a co-founder of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Abilene, and taught Sunday school for many years.

Today, the firm is headed by his son, Dan M. Fergus Jr. Dan has been board certified in oil, gas and mineral law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for the last 16 years. Like his father, Dan is known for the work he has done in the community. He was on the Executive Board, and was the attorney for, the Boy Scouts here in Abilene and received the Boy Scout Silver Beaver Award. He additionally has been on the YMCA Board, the Hendrick Home for Children Board, the Mental Health Association Board and on the Administrative Board at St. Paul Methodist Church.
